A platform for voices supporting women's rights
They hail from all over the world, and from walks of life. They do all kinds of things: they make music, save lives, raise children, run businesses, write, preach, act and tell jokes. They campaign for their causes and strive for a better world for themselves and their families. Attendees included Emma Bonino, Foreign Minister for Italy, Claire Bertschinger Anglo-Swiss nurse whose work inspired Live Aid, Bushra El-Turk British-Lebanese composer, Razan Ghazzawi Syrian blogger and activist.
The BBC also composed a video asking all of the attendees “If you could say just one thing to your granddaughter, what would it be?” Some answers were long, some very short indeed. But most were strident and aspirational, liberally sprinkled with doses of hope for a better future.
